Trades Assistant

**The Company**

Our client is well established supplier, designer and manufacturer of Office Furniture with a focus on quality, innovative design and customer service. Catering for both small and large organisations, our clients projects can range from 5K to 500K + supplying office furniture from either an extensive in-house range through to custom design and build. Their client base covers all industry sectors including large corporate entities, executive, government, retail, health, mining and small to medium business.

**The Job**

Due to our client experiencing a large increase in their products and services, we are seeking several versatile and skilled Trades Assistant with carpentry experience to join their team.

The site installations can vary from job to job and can be located in the following;
- **Perth Metro - 90%**:

- **Regional - 5%**:

- **Mine Site - 5%**

Flexibility in working hours is one of essential criteria for this role as some installations may involve;
- **Working 10 to 12 + Hour days**:

- **Working away - 1 to 4 nights (Not very often)**

With the installations, you may have small to large jobs where you could be installing furniture for a small office that can take a couple of hours through to installations that could be several floors of a high-rise building that may take up to 5 days.

For the installation jobs in regional towns or mine sites, you may have to fly up to the locations usually spending 1 to 3 nights on site, through to driving to regional towns such as Albany, where you may have an early start to be able to complete the job in one day and be able to drive back to Perth which can be a long day of 14 hours.

The installation jobs main responsibilities include;
- **Packing trucks or containers of fully assembled or partially assembled furniture form Canning Vale**:

- **Driving work vehicles with furniture to clients locations - Perth Metro or Regional**:

- **Unloading trucks and containers on site and moving the furniture to relevant offices or storage areas**:

- **Working off Office Layouts**:

- **Assembly of Furniture**:

- **Making modifications of furniture in order to fit in with office layouts**:

- **Interacting with clients regarding furniture and placement of furniture**:

- **Moving furniture to desired locations**:

- **Ensuring all furniture is clean and well presented for sign off**:

- **Pack up all rubbish and tools**

High on our list are Trades Assistants that have at least 1 year experience in either;
- **Cabinet Making**:

- **Shop Fit Outs**:

- **Carpentry**:

- **Construction**:

- **Manufacturing**
- **Operating Power Tools - Drills, Impact Wrenches & Jig Saws**:

- **Assembly of flat pack furniture**
- **Has the intention of ongoing, long-term work where you will be able to develop your career**:

- **Exceptional communication skills - written & verbal**:

- **Possess good numeracy skills especially in relation to measuring up & material counts for large batches**:

- **Have the flexibility to work long days when required**:

- **Be able to work away from home for 1 to 4 days regularly**:

- **Be well presented (maintaining clean work cloths) as well as good personal grooming which is essential for client interaction**:

- **Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times especially when dealing with clients**:

- **Have initiative with excellent problem-solving skills**:

- **Be physically fit to be able to carry out physical tasks such as moving furniture & unloading containers**:

- **Have a positive attitude where you do not get stressed when things don’t go your way**:

- **Be able work autonomously or in a team environment**:

- **Be a productive worker that carries out their tasks efficiently as well to high standards**:

- **Be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines**

Essential Criteria Include
- **Must be able to pass a full medical**:

- **Must be able to pass regular Drug & Alcohol Tests for Mine Site Projects**:

- **Possess a current WA Drivers licence - C Class or HR**

**Permanent Remuneration**
- **$28.00 Per Hour**:

- **+ Over Time **(X1.5 Hours 9 to 10 / X2 11 + Hours)

- **Expected Annual Earnings **-$75,000 to $95,000

Perm Employees generally make between $75,000 to $95,000 Per Annum which depends on how many hours you will be working and how much Over Time you will work over one year. Currently TA’s are working 10 to 11 hour days which if worked over a year the annual salary would be $90,000 to $95,000. Current TA’s earned between $80,000 to $100,000 last financial year.
