This critical role is based in the Waste and Enforcement Services branch of the Environmental Services and Regulation (ESR) division. The Waste and Enforcement Services Branch delivers strategic support and compliance capabilities to all of DES.As the Deputy-Chief Remote Pilot & Maintenance Controller for the department's Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) program, you will be required to perform the role of Maintenance Controller, and Deputy Chief Remote Pilot under the Department's Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator's Certificate (ReOC) issued by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) under the Civil Aviation Act 1988. This includes all departmental responsibilities under this Act and associated regulations. As Maintenance Controller, you have the responsibility and authority for all departmental RPAS maintenance (scheduled or unscheduled) under the ReOC across all departmental divisions. You will also be required to provide strategic and operational guidance for the maintenance of all other aircraft. You will also be required to relieve as the Chief Remote Pilot (CRP) in the absence of the CRP.The position will be required to undertake travel for the purposes of program activities, specialist flight support, pilot assessment, pilot and crew training, meetings, conferences, and other associated tasks that would require overnight stays away from the normal office location.
