**THE ROLE**

The position is responsible for creating bespoke prices for Origin’s largest customers (across electricity, gas and carbon/environmental) and other large tenders to Retail, Origin Zero and Wholesale, ensuring that they align with the Origin Energy’s strategic portfolio and risk objectives.

The position is responsible for reporting and analysis that supports the development of pricing methodologies and risk decision making.

The analyst is integral to ensuring that wholesale contract repositories are maintained, which are critical for the company’s accurate demand forecasting, financial forecasting, and wholesale position management.

Main key responsibilities include:

- Responsible for delivering complex pricing methodologies to balance Origin’s strategic portfolio objectives with competition in the retail market (electricity, gas and carbon/ environmental). The methodologies will mitigate Origin’s exposures in the National Electricity Market, Short Term Trading Markets, Declared Wholesale Gas Market and other retail gas markets. The methodologies must be resilient to changes in market conditions, strategy, and customer expectations.
- Supports the Electricity and Gas Portfolio teams. This includes providing analysis of portfolio risk associated with specific customers, segments and/or products to support decisions regarding physical and financial trading. This analysis informs decisions on the investment in and deployment of physical and financial assets to meet Origin’s strategic objectives including managing market share in both volume and customer numbers and realising portfolio optimisation through customer diversification.
- Responsible for identifying risks associated with Large Customer products.
- Proactively provide business intelligence and insights to key sales leads to help inform and optimise sales strategy.
- Responsible for ensuring pricing is approved in accordance with the Commodity Risk Management System.

**Is This You?**

You will demonstrate:

- Qualification in a relevant quantitative discipline e.g. finance, accounting, engineering, mathematics or similar
- Strategic thinker capable of identifying, quantifying, and developing value adding solutions for Origin’s portfolio
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing others with structured and reasoned arguments, as required.
- Highly numerate with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail with an ability to identify system/ process weaknesses and risks and use analytical and conceptual thinking to resolve issues
- Ability to manage competing priorities to demanding time constraints
- Ability to make decisions under pressure and be accountable for those decisions.
- Ability to implement change effectively, displaying personal flexibility.
- Highly effective at developing strong internal and external relationships and can work cooperatively with people from a wide range of disciplines (portfolio trading, retail, legal, finance and technology)
- Able to work independently or in a team environment with a wide range of functional activities
