Autonomy & Automation Six Sigma Black Belt

This role will join the team of 6 Sigma Black Belts that manage Autonomy and Automation related Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects for Resource and Construction Industries. Specific focus of the team are CPIs for Caterpillar’s MineStar suite of products ranging from advanced fleet management systems to remote control and fully autonomous machines and many technologies in between.

As Caterpillar continues to innovate and introduce new products and technologies to the market, we will also continue to see opportunities for product improvements to meet customer expectations. This team plays a critical role in managing the CPI workstream to deliver quality products and technologies to our customers.

**Job Duties**

Measure results. Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the project goals, objectives and metrics are being met. Provide Project Sponsor with the results and take corrective project action as required to improve on results below target.

Integrate improvement projects. Ensure projects are integrated with other business activities, improvement projects, and business strategy.

Communicate. Ensure multi-channel communication throughout the organization. This includes keeping the Project Sponsor informed of program status and ensuring coordination of activities with other Black Belts. Also, this includes capturing project case histories that can be re-used for other projects.

Provide quantitative data indicating the scope of the operation including current year and forecast sales, net income, total assets controlled, number of personnel, operating budget, and any other quantitative factors which describe the scope of the operation.

This position has significant impact on the success of 6 Sigma. The improvements will improve the company’s ability to meet customer expectations, improve quality, reduce cycle times, reduce cost and increase profits.

Must be a results-oriented change agent who is an effective business systems thinker. Must be able to manage risk and ambiguity on a project.

**Basic Qualifications**

Bachelors Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business or an equivalent level of work experience.

5+ years of professional level experience. 10+ years

Prior supervisory experience is a plus

Should have demonstrated project management skills, team leadership skills, and very good communication skills.

Should have knowledge of other functions that provide inputs regularly, i.e., Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Operations.

Must have the ability to learn and do statistical analysis and have basic computer skills.
