The Research Office (RO) at CSIRO promotes research excellence by investing in high-quality, high priority research and fostering the development and recognition of research talent. As the RO team is growing, we are seeking a new Grants Advisor/Officer. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of the internal grants portfolio (ResearchPlus), and may support engagement with external funding programs and stakeholders, providing Secretariat functions to committees such as Science Council or as the Service Provider for managing the SIEF.

You have experience providing high level administrative support and proactively contributing to a dynamic, fast paced office environment. You’re organised and have a high attention to detail, which sees you efficiently manage conflicting deadlines and priorities. In this role, you’ll engage with a diverse cohort of internal/external stakeholders, so strong communication skills will be key to your success.

**Your duties will include**:

- Under limited supervision, supporting administration of selected internal competitive grant programs (R+) and external grant programs:

- Post-award activities such as reviewing and recommending reports and variations for approval, providing post-award support to grantees.
- Working collaboratively with others in the team to ensure the annual R+ portfolio cycle runs smoothly.
- Based on precedent-based policy and procedure, providing advice to grant applicants and grant holders, as well as other Business Unit stakeholders on grant terms and conditions, reporting and variation requirements, feedback and outcomes.
- Contributing to portfolio-level activities including preparation of fortnightly RO Newsletter, developing and maintaining webpages.
- Undertaking special projects prioritised by the RO to continuously improve processes, systems and organisational effectiveness.
- Other duties as required.

**Location**:Adelaide (Waite campus), Canberra (Black Mountain site) or Melbourne (Clayton site) preferred, but other locations may be considered.

**Salary**:AU$68k - AU$86k (CSOF3) or AU$89k - AU$101k (CSOF4) pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

**Tenure**:Specified term up to 3 years by negotiation.
Full-time, but minimum 0.8 FTE may be considered

**To be considered you will need**:

- Relevant experience proactively contributing to a dynamic, fast paced office and providing high level administrative support, coupled with a high degree of attention to detail, accuracy and diligence.
- Demonstrated ability to clearly convey information and ideas and establish effective interpersonal relationships with a wide variety of people.
- Good organisational skills coupled with the ability to meet deadlines whilst managing competing priorities and adapting to a changing work environment.
- The ability to professionally handle sensitive and confidential information and use appropriate judgment and discretion.
- Knowledge of systems such as SAP, O2D, Content Manager, SiteCore, and Office 365 suite.
- A history of professional and respectful behaviours and attitudes; the ability to work under mínimal direction in a geographically dispersed team environment, proactively collaborating, consulting and sharing resources to accomplish team objectives

**For appointment at the higher salary level (CSOF4), as well as satisfying the essential criteria listed above, you must also have**:

- Experience in supporting research management and governance or a funding and/or grants scheme.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a project including reviewing and recommendations for process improvement.
- Proven ability to investigate complex problems by utilising sound judgement to identify and consider potential implications of a range of available alternative solution
