Environment and Sustainability Manager

**Reporting directly to the CEO**, you will develop, drive and facilitate the development and execution of Abergeldie environment and sustainability strategy to ensure our operations contribute to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. You will develop targets and drive improvement, enhancing sustainability performance and ensuring environmental compliance across our projects finding new, innovative and economically reductive practices that minimise waste, reduce our carbon footprint and maximise efficiency. You will be a leader with capabilities that can drive a sustainable framework and strategy.

Partnering with the business leaders, your stakeholder engagement will range from Board to Executive level all the way to project teams regarding activity, as you will make key decisions and deliver on our journey whilst achieving our environment and sustainable goals.

You will have the ability to think strategically but also take a hands-on approach when required. You will own, facilitate and execute our strategy, advising on governance & risk issues; obligations under legislation; environmental requirements for different regions, projects and business opportunities. you will recruit, mentor, train and develop a team to support the delivery of this function across all projects.

The environment and sustainability manager will also lead our corporate social responsibility activities.

**Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following**:

- Facilitate the development and execution of Abergeldie sustainability and environment strategy, developing and implementing strategic objectives, and targets that drive improvement ensuring our operational emissions become Net Zero by 2035.
- Lead our corporate social responsibility activities and approach in line with ISO 26000.
- Utilising ISO 20400:2017 to provide guidance on integrating sustainability within our procurement processes.
- Maintain relationships with key government agencies and environmental authorities to stay abreast with legislation and programs
- Oversee the ISO14001:2015 certified Environmental Management system and its continued improvement.
- Participation in environmental incident reporting and management including drafting of responses to the relevant Clients or Authorities
- Liaise with government bodies and professional organisations on environmental and sustainability matters
- Support the tender process by providing environmental and sustainability technical input for projects under development.
- Work with key stakeholders to deliver compliant sustainable innovative projects and company outcomes.
- Support the team to develop, implement and monitor Construction Environment and Sustainability Management plans on projects.
- Provide operational environmental and sustainability guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice
- Identification and effective management of sustainability and environmental risks
- Assist in implementing our REFLECT Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

**What you need**
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Science, Sustainability or related field.
- Ten (10) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Specialist environmental and sustainability experience in the Construction Industry
- Understanding of Federal, State and local government statutes and legislation Understanding of Environmental and Sustainability approvals process
