**About the role**:
We have an exciting role available for a Merchandise Planner to join our Glue Planning Team. Reporting to the Head of Planning your responsibilities will include using historical sales, and market trends to forecast sales plans and supporting purchase plans, ensuring adequate and timely inventory coverage to achieve the commercial business targets of sales and margin, within the Glue Stores.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- Achieving sales growth, gross margin and inventory within the agreed budgets and growth targets in line with the business strategy
- Develop and agree Company sales budgets by department in conjunction with Head of Planning
- Develop and communicate with the Buyer the seasonal merchandise strategy at a brand and category level and conduct seasonal forecast plans, recommending purchase quantities
- Manage departmental open to buy, through review and re-plan on a regular basis within the WSSI
- Review current performance on a weekly basis, identifying opportunities and risks and propose sales budgets by department.
- Analyse post seasonal results and strategies to identify key opportunities or risks and approve purchases within the limitations of the OTB and communicate with the Buyer.
- Reconcile top-down and bottom-up plans to department plans and forecasts and monitoring sales data and stock levels and keeping informed of changing market conditions.
- Manage Assistant Buyers to ensure allocations are timely and accurate and training and development of Assistant Planners across the product categories, to ensure merchandise planning activities are efficiently executed across the business consistently.
**To succeed in this role, you will need to have**:
- Demonstrated minimum 5 years’ experience in Merchandise Planning Role
- Demonstrated ability in a high-volume retail industry.
- Degree in a related discipline (prefer but on essential)
- Experience managing and developing a team of results driven Planning team members.
- Strong financial and numeracy skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
