**Who we are**
This position is based in the Detection Capability Section. The section works closely with internal and external stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of border screening by providing detection systems and policy capability. The section is responsible for the development and management of the detector dog program, 2D and 3D x-ray and ultraviolet capability and for the delivery of highly innovative detection capability projects.

**The Job**
The duties include:

- developing communications products and reports, including audio-visual products, to support detector dog and detection technology programs and innovation projects
- reviewing and updating policy and standards documents relating to detector dogs and x-rays
- providing technical and administrative support for research and development activities at the Melbourne Jet Base and nationally.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
The successful applicant will have:

- experience developing rich media including video editing, photography etc
- experience drafting high quality communications
- an understanding of the departments systems and familiarity with the biosecurity regulatory environment would be highly desirable.

The successful applicant must:

- note that the position may require them to participate in an on-call roster (for which an appropriate restriction allowance will be paid) and be available to perform duty outside standard hours
- note that you may be required to perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work
- wear an official uniform supplied by the department, including during field operations (as applicable), in accordance with the department’s uniform policy
- wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures
- note that you may be required to travel interstate from time to time.
