About the Role
- Develop & lead procurement activities for Integrated Energy

A newly created full time permanent opportunity has become available within the AGL Procurement team. Internally referred to as the Category Manager - Renewables, you will have responsibility for developing and leading the Procurement activities relating to the Integrated Energy Business Units, with annual addressable spend exceeding ~$900 million. To align with AGL’s strategic objectives, this portfolio includes delivering to the Gas, Hydro and Renewables pipeline, plus category management across equipment and consumables.

What you’ll be doing:
Reporting to the Procurement Manager Integrated Energy
- Partner with Integrated Energy business stakeholders to develop and deliver best value sourcing strategies in line with AGL policies.
- Engaging with internal stakeholders to achieve successful contract negotiation and execution in line with AGL policies.
- Lead the execution of category plans and sourcing strategies as a key champion of AGL’s Strategic Procurement team.
- Lead negotiations on key sourcing activities to optimise commercial outcomes, benefits realization, and value creation.
- Manage risk associated with external spend including commercial and contractual risk through effective governance in sourcing and contract management expertise.
- Utilise procurement templates and tools for effective sourcing implementation including Ariba in line with AGL policies and processes.
- Drive supplier development and innovation for material and strategic suppliers across the business, including the development and implementation of social license aligned Procurement initiatives in support of diversity and indigenous procurement.
- Ensure commercial sustainability by influencing supplier management and driving procurement-based saving opportunities, addressable spend and cost reduction targets.

About You

You will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have knowledge of business drivers and issues facing large-scale energy companies, and the ability to assist the business in translating these into requirements for tendering. In addition, you will have an inherent ability to use effective negotiating and influencing skills in a consultative manner.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Proven experience in procurement or equivalent commercial roles, including time in large complex corporates
- Effective project management skills including analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in developing complex sourcing and negotiation strategies, with a successful track record in delivery.
- Experienced in effective communication and management of external vendors.
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice procurement processes.
- Demonstrated experience in managing highly complex issues through to resolution.
- Understanding of strategic drivers and how to link to goals and performance in the business.
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Engineering, Commerce, Business or Law is preferred, with additional qualifications highly valued.
- MCIPS qualification (desirable)
