This role is responsible for managing the Flood Warning Network Team, which provides national coordination and oversight of the Flood Warning Network across Australia. This team provides a focal point for the Flood Warning Network Leads in each of the Observing Operations Hubs located in all states and territories and is responsible for the coordination and management of activities supporting the maintenance, sustainment, and improvement of the Flood Warning network nationally. They will monitor expenditure of relevant funds to ensure budgets are appropriately met, highlighting issues and initiating corrective action. They will oversee planning and resourcing work packages for asset sustainment across the national network, ensuring Flood Warning field staff are able to deliver asset installation/maintenance works as defined in annual work packages. The role is also responsible for longer term asset sustainment planning and budget for the asset base to uplift and maintain a Flood Warning Network that meets business and customer requirements into the future.
This role also involves liaison with key Flood warning stakeholders internally in the Bureau and externally with customers and partners such as state and local government departments. The occupant will ensure that stakeholders are informed of progress on key initiatives through effective, proactive and appropriate communication.
The role also supervises and develop staff members who form part of the of the national Flood Warning Network team.
