Payroll Officer

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Payroll Officer to join our high performing Finance team on a 12 month contract. Supporting the Senior Payroll Officer you will be able to hit the ground running and provide a high level of customer service to all customers and stakeholders involved in the end to end payroll process.
You will be an effective problem solver both on a technical level for the resolution of specific issues and on a strategic level to identify and recommend process improvements in the payroll environment. This role is suitable for a detail driven individual who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment and who will be responsible for ensuring Snowy Hydro employees are paid accurately and on time, everytime. This role is based in Cooma, NSW and Snowy Hydro supports flexible working arrangements and appreciates the additional value such arrangements can bring to our business and to our employees.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:
Creating and maintaining employee pay records from commencement of employment through to cessation

Responding in a timely manner to all payroll related queries

Maintaining and continuously improving payroll processes and documented procedures

Monitoring and maintaining accurate records of superannuation fund membership and contributions for all superannuation fund providers

Monitoring the validity of regional pay input for accuracy and consistency

Monitoring and anticipating compliance obligations and changes relating to the payroll function

Continuously demonstrating the highest level of health and safety standards in accordance with Snowy Hydro's OHS policies and exhibiting behaviours consistent with the Snowy Hydro Values

An awareness and ability to maintain the confidential nature of payroll data

Strong computer literacy for the preparation of payroll to analysis and interpret payroll data using spreadsheets

An awareness and understanding of, or strong willingness to learn about compliance obligations relating to the payroll function, including the ability to monitor and anticipate changing requirements imposed externally

An understanding of accounting and accounting controls, such as reconciliations, as they relate to the payroll function
