**Position Description**

Oversees and directs the operations of the Ipswich Optical Department and other areas of the warehouse.

**Daily Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Schedules, develops, counsels, trains and directs department personnel. Makes recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination to the Warehouse Manager.
- Reviews department budget, financial statements and insurance payment records. Develops and implements plans for merchandising, productivity and profitability.
- Observes employee performance and paperwork to ensure that department procedures and standards are followed for products, record keeping, merchandising, inventory control, product storage and cash handling. Implements and upholds safety and security procedures.
- Provides prompt and courteous member service. Responds to member concerns using problem solving skills, tact and discretion. Overrides and checks cash register codes, approves refunds.
- Approves and submits orders for equipment, product and supplies.
- Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery and equipment.
- Oversees and participates in duties of Licensed dispensing opticians. Fits and adjusts eyeglasses, dispenses contacts. Rings orders and collects payment when necessary.
- This is a Full Time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week)

**Non-Essential Functions and Tasks**:

- Assists with front end duties as necessary
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Experience: Management experience required.
- Must understand HICAPS system.
- Skills: computer, math and customer service skills required.
- Schedule: must be available to work a rotating schedule which includes weekend work.
- Must be available to participate in bi-annual warehouse inventory (stock take).

This is a full time salaried position.
