Assistant Directors in the Nursing Programs and Operations (NPO) section lead their teams to successfully deliver team and section outcomes.

The Nursing Programs and Operations Section manages the Community Nursing and Coordinated Veterans’ Care programs. The program helps clients remain independently at home for as long as possible, by providing clinically required nursing services in the client’s home. The Coordinated Veterans’ Care Program aims to improve participant quality of life and decrease the risk of unplanned hospitalisation through proactive coordination of care.

Within the Nursing Programs and Operations Section, the Auditing Team will conduct audits of providers delivering the Community Nursing (CN) program, to confirm quality and safe services are being delivered under DVA funded arrangements. The Auditing Team will undertake other audit activities for the CN and Coordinated Veterans’ Care (CVC) programs as required.

**Duties**
- Managing the development, implementation and maintenance of the CN program audit functions, including annual and ad hoc audit schedules, audit documentation, and audit communication plans for the CN program
- Managing the CN program quality and safety audits, including the operation of the audits and completion of audit reports, and engagement with DVA Nursing Advisers in relation to clinical elements of the audits
- Undertaking reviews for the CVC Program, on an ad hoc basis as concerns are identified
- Managing post payment monitoring activities, as an element of the audit function
- Working closely with key internal stakeholders to progress the CN program quality and safety audits, including on the scheduling of audits and provider relationship management and engagement, and with a view to program improvement opportunities
- Overseeing CN audit information, education and communication activities for CN providers
- Working collaboratively on assurance and compliance investigations for the CN program and resolve identified issues as required
- Preparing regular CN audit performance reports for the DVA Executive (quarterly and annual)
- Responding to corporate briefing and information requests for CN program audit related matters
- Contributing to the maintenance of key program documentation such as the Notes for CN Providers
- Undertaking other program improvement related activities as required
- Managing a team of up to 3 APS staff (APS 6)
