The Residential Youth Worker is responsible for the delivery of high-quality residential support that promotes the emotional, social and behavioural needs of vulnerable young people.

**This is a Casual opportunity for a Therapeutic Youth Worker based in Berkshire Park, NSW within our 'A Place to Go' program. The position reports to the House Supervisor.**

**_ About the role:_**
- Provide trauma-informed accommodation services that achieve positive outcomes for young people and their families
- Provide young people with safety, stability, predictability and consistency by implementing the house guidelines and supporting the implementation of individual strategies and plans
- Participate in team meetings, house meetings and case review meetings to ensure that young people receive services that meet their needs.

**_ Key Responsibilities:_**
- Provide Therapeutic Care
- Have a strong focus on recovery from trauma.
- Provide an alternative to long term residential care.
- Do more to protect and keep children and young people safe.
- Provide clear pathways to less intensive service types and permanency.
- Provide a broader range of placement options for children and young people to achieve outcomes around mental health, physical health and education.

**_ Primary objectives:_**
- Participate in professional development opportunities as required;
- Participate constructively in supervision and performance appraisals;
- Participate in the development and review of policies and procedures;
- Identify practice improvements that contribute to better outcomes for children, young people and their families;
- Remain informed of developments in out of home care, homelessness and youth services;
**_ Key selection criteria:_**
- To be successful in this role, you will have:_
- A diploma in a child-related field
- Demonstrated experience in supervised contact, out of home care, children’s services, youth work or a related field;
- Demonstrated understanding of child and adolescent development, the impact of trauma, and the indicators of child abuse;
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour; and prevent and/or de-escalate crisis
