Social Media Coordinator Role Description

About Gidget Foundation Australia:
Gidget Foundation Australia (GFA) is a not-for-profit organisation that supports the emotional wellbeing of
expectant and new parents to ensure those in need receive timely, appropriate, and specialist care.

About the role:
The Social Media Coordinator is required to coordinate all of GFA’s social media aimed at increasing the
Foundation’s online presence to educate on perinatal mental health and reduce stigma, drive referrals to GFA
support and continuously grow community fundraising income.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of a detailed and responsive social media calendar
and strategy, content creation and curation, execution of social media content across all platforms. The role
reports to the Digital and Community Fundraising Director.

Social Media Strategy
- Prepare annual social media strategy in consultation with the Digital and Community Fundraising Director.
- Continuous monitoring of NFP industry trends and perinatal mental health social media strategically.
- Integrate organisational marketing strategy into all social media strategy and planning.
- Identify opportunities and new channels to grow reach into target audiences.
- Work with GFA team members on promotion of initiatives, events and campaigns.
- Manage the GFA Instagram Shop strategically to promote fundraising merchandise and convert to sales.
- Develop recommendations from analytics and insights to boost social media engagement.

Social Media Calendar
- Manage the GFA social media calendar including weekly WIP meetings with the Digital and Community

Fundraising Director.
- Manage regular updates to the Calendar ensuring all posts are planned with optimal timing.
- Coordinate an annual planning workshop with the Digital and Community Fundraising Director to map out

the calendar strategically for the year ahead.

Content Creation and Curation
- Maintain a consistent brand experience across all social media platforms including attention to detail on

icons, profile images, highlight covers, page covers etc.
- Adhere to the brand and language guidelines to ensure the appropriate tone and style is maintained.
- Create, curate and brief the graphic designers on content and work within Canva when needed.
- Coordinate the execution of all content with particular attention to platform relevancy within the

Hootsuite platform for review and approval by the Digital and Community Fundraising Director before
posts are live.
- Share newsletters, media releases and news stories to the relevant GFA social platforms.
- Assist with social media to support key GFA events including Gidget Ladies’ Lunch to further increase brand

awareness and fundraising outcomes.
- Coordinate live broadcasts from GFA events including the Gidget Ladies’ Lunch, Gidget House launches,

Perinatal Mental Health Conference and others as needed.
- Coordinate social media for GFA campaigns including Have a Yarn for Gidget, Go Red for Gidget, Bun in the

Oven, Gidget Giving Day and fundraising appeals.
- Coordinate the GFA YouTube channel and consolidate the removal of Vimeo content.

Community Management
- Monitor and respond to engagement on all social media posts with reactions and personalised responses

within 48 hours and escalate any immediate concerns to the Digital and Community Fundraising Director.
- Provide further information on comments where relevant including links to website content, information

on contacting the support admin team, how to get involved etc, driving traffic for GFA.
- Allocate regular time daily to check, respond and clear all platform direct messages.
- Ensure all auto responses on platform Inboxes are active and up to date including Holiday messages and

Automated responses.
Online Influencers and Relationships
- Coordinate and execute the Online Influencer program with Digital and Community Fundraising Director.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry organisations across all social channels.
- Ensure that GFA is widely known and respected in the mental health online space.

Reporting and Measurement
- Review monthly reports including areas of improvement and commentary.
- Continuous monitoring of reporting to ensure that all social media content is optimised to perform.
- Provide detailed reporting as required by the Digital and Community Fundraising Director and CEO.

Essential Criteria
- 3 years minimum experience in social media marketing and content creation ideally in the NFP sector
- Passion for social media and proficiency with the Hootsuite platform
- Proficiency and experience with video and photo editing tools including Canva
- Strong copywriting, marketing and editing skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience with Facebook/Meta Business Manager and Facebook/Instagram Ads
- Excellent relationship building skills with a high degree of empathy, kindness, an
