About the role
With over 11 million customers across Australia and North America and an average of 2.5 million trips taken on our roads every workday, as Group Privacy and Data Protection Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and leading Transurban’s privacy and data protection agenda across all markets in which we operate. You’ll be responsible for developing and embedding organisational wide best-practice privacy governance and compliance programs, ensuring alignment with Australian and global legislative privacy requirements. This position also oversees critical regulatory compliance frameworks, including compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), coordinating our PCI DSS and SWIFT certifications, and leads a team of specialists in delivering privacy risk mitigation, training, and incident response.
- Day-to-day, you will:
- Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of Transurban’s Group Privacy and Data Protection Program across all jurisdictions- Manage a team of specialists to drive awareness, capability, and compliance with privacy legislation and frameworks-
- Oversee and coordinate PCI DSS and SWIFT compliance across Transurban’s global operations, including external audits, training, and stakeholder engagement- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Legal, Security, Customer & Technology Teams and senior executives to embed privacy by design into business initiatives
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- Experience in designing and implementing privacy frameworks within organisations- Experience managing privacy breach response process- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and guide technical and non-technical audiences- A proactive, self-starting mindset with resilience, and the ability to navigate regulatory change and drive continuous improvement- Experience leading teams and working cross-functionally to build capability, embed governance, and foster a strong risk culture
