About the Team
The Business Assurance team is responsible for providing first line of defence assurance services in support of improving operational outcomes. The team is comprised of Controls Assurance; Business Resiliency and Third Party Assurance; Regulatory Change Management and Complaints & Disputes Handling.
About the role
This position reports to the Controls & Quality Assurance Lead. In this role you will support the wider business in strengthening our control environment and culture through designing risk-based controls and the testing of key controls for design and operating effectiveness.
The role will require you to work closely with operational staff and to provide insights and education in strengthening our first line of defence. An ability to work collaboratively with our second line Risk & Compliance teams and Internal Audit team will be critical to your success in this role.
What you need to know
Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:
- Test key controls and assess for design and operating effectiveness
- Continually evolve our approach to testing controls
- Maintain a controls assurance testing schedule
- Provide consultation, facilitation, and analytical support to ensure our testing plan is executed in line with expected standards
- Implement and monitor control remediation plans for controls whereby improvements have been identified
- Support managers with reporting activities
- Support other assurance and control activities as required
- Provide coaching and assistance to internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and processes
- Build relationships across the business to continuously drive improvement to the control environment and uplift our risk culture
- Perform Quality Assurance activities to ensure compliance with legislation, policies and processes
What we’re looking for:
- Previous experience in audit, assurance, or risk management, ideally within financial services
- Knowledge and exposure to compliance, assurance and risk management frameworks
- Experience in testing control design and operating effectiveness
- Proven ability to assess control deficiencies and develop plans to effectively remediate where the risk is out of the business’ risk appetite
- An aptitude for building relationships with internal stakeholders across the business
- Confidence in challenging and managing stakeholders across the business
- A strong attention to detail and effective time management
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast changing environment
