**About the Role**
We are focused on providing quality Welfare and Engagement (W&E) services and support that provide detainees with skills, confidence, and opportunities to proactively engage and explore options pertaining to their health and wellbeing.
Reporting to the local Welfare and Engagement Manager / Coordinator within the Immigration Detention Facility (IDF) you will actively contribute to running the structured programmes for adults that will enhance wellbeing and emotional resilience and contribute to the welfare of individuals in immigration detention. Ensure there is flexibility in the provision of innovative and culturally appropriate welfare and engagement services for detainees.
You will design and deliver, both individual and group, gym and fitness programs for people in detention based on an assessment of their age, level of fitness, goals, and abilities. Demonstrate and teach body movements and skills used in fitness routines; set up and monitor fitness equipment, ensuring equipment is safe, clean and in working condition.
Casual opportunity working Saturday and Sunday each week.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Certificate III in Fitness or equivalent
- Current member of Fitness Australia or affiliated body; and maintain registration
- Minimum of 2 years’ (full time equivalent) experience in managing and conducting structured programs and activities for adults in gym setting
- Experience in working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds
- Understand risk management principles
- Plan, manage and respectfully deliver structured programs for people in our care, that take into consideration the special interests, skills and needs of people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and different religious backgrounds
- Maintain a current Australian Federal Police Clearance
- Maintain a current Working with Children Certificate in accordance with the relevant state or territory child protection legislation
- National Police Check (AFP)
- Hold and maintain HLTAID009 Provide CPR and HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificates with at least 6 months of currency on the certificate
- Unrestricted current Drivers Licence
