Skout Solutions is looking for a Remote Communications Technician, based in Toowomba, this role is a key position for Ventia to improve remote communications for their operations in secluded areas across the country.

This casual contract offers a competitive day rate on a 2:2 (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) roster for 18 months in an independent, yet collaborative and dynamic position. It would be a great opportunity for someone who has recently started in the industry and looking to build their capabilities.

Ventia Services are industry leaders in Drilling, Well Servicing and Camp Management, providing services to some of Australia's largest oil and gas clients.

As a Remote Communications Technician, your role will focus on providing remote communications support to our remote Oil and Gas sites. Collaborating closely with the Remote Communications Manager, Remote Communications Technicians and Rig Network Engineer, you will maintain and upgrade existing field communications infrastructure, provide maintenance and support to existing VSAT, 4G, fibre and network equipment, as well as assist in the effective set up of new infrastructure.

About you

You will have proven success in a similar role, experience working in remote locations and sometimes harsh environments, ability to design, mend, implement and maintain remote communications equipment (VSAT, Radio, MATV and network infrastructure). You will have a positive, can-do attitude, remain calm in stressful situations, and use your initiative to be proactive and resolve issues.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Structured, coaxial and fibre cabling certification
- Valid Australian Drivers License
- Experience working with satellite networks & equipment
- Familiar with MATV systems
- Proficient using hand and power tools
- An awareness of IT infrastructure, such as network switching
- Truckloads of enthusiasm and positivity
