The Policy & Budget (P&B) Group is the primary manager of the Treasury’s relationships with government agencies. P&B partners with agencies and other non-government delivery partners to create a strong and sustainable NSW economy.
It works collaboratively with government agencies to provide high-quality advice on financial management, non-financial performance, regulatory matters, policy reform, and resource allocation.
P&B’s goal is to improve services to the community and increase living standards in NSW, both now and into the future.
We have multiple opportunities across the **P&B Group** (read more about your future Group and Division), in particular:
- ** Budget Management and Control **in the** Budget Division** has a key role in supporting annual budget processes and strong financial management across the public sector. It is now leading a new high-profile project to upgrade the State’s budget system.
- ** Budget Planning and Analysis **in the** Budget Division **has a critical function in co-ordinating whole-of government processes for new measure proposals, confirming decisions of the Expenditure Review Committee and providing the Government with the latest and best fiscal projection.
- ** Reviews and Reform **in the** Strategy, Delivery and Reviews Division **works closely with broader Treasury and agencies to provide specialist advice, undertake reviews of government activities across key areas, and develop and implement strategic tools and frameworks to enhance financial accountability and transparency across the sector.
- ** Health **in the** Health and Stronger Communities Division** manages NSW Treasury’s relationship with key stakeholders across NSW Health, the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC), and the Mental Health Commission (MHC).
- ** Strategic Reform and Policy within Strategic Policy, Education and Customer Service** (SPECS) division provides advice on major policy and financial reforms to inform government decisions on issues including cyber security, early childhood education and care, education and digital policy.
- ** Budget Strategy and Co-ordination in the Budget Division** team has a key role in managing the process, coordination and production of the annual NSW Budget, through the provision of strategic policy advice on the budget strategy and process.
Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is paramount, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication, collaboration, and advocacy with Treasury teams and agency counterparts.

**What you can bring to the role.**
In these integral roles there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
You will be successful in a role if you have:
- A high degree of resilience and flexibility.
- Demonstrated experience analysing and interpreting financial data to identify trends or anomalies.
- Sound understanding of public sector financial management or government policymaking and a willingness to develop the remaining areas.
- Ability to clearly convey technical and complex information in different ways (verbal, written and visual) appropriate to the audience and its purpose.
- Project management skills and experience, ideally within a financial systems management environment.
- Experience reviewing policy submissions prior to committee review.
- Experience providing advice to Leadership Teams on funding requests and efficient use of public resources.
- Ability to draft and coordinate the development of the Budget Papers and related fiscal reports.
- Sound research capabilities to support and identify best practice approaches in the delivery and implementation of the State Budget.
