The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system. Youth Justice provides strategic advice and delivers targeted interventions to address underlying causes of offending behaviour in children and young people, supporting rehabilitation to reduce reoffending and enhance community safety.
**The Opportunity**
- Ongoing, full-time position based in Melbourne.
- VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $185,518 per year plus superannuation.
- Identify and address new and emerging complex, sensitive issues with system-wide impacts and integrate solutions across the department and other agencies
- Represent Youth Justice and the department with stakeholders at relevant forums both within and outside government
- Provide strategic leadership by developing the Community and Custodial Youth Justice manuals, ensuring guidance for staff reflects contemporary best practice and supports the implementation of key legislation, policies, and reforms.
**To be successful in this role you will have**:
- Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of staff to deliver high quality work within required timeframes.
- Sound knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian government administrative processes.
- Proven track record in public sector management and project or program delivery.
- Knowledge and/or experience relating to the Youth Justice environment and contemporary best practice is required.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, social sciences, criminology, law and/or project management is desirable.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
