- Maintain effective working relationships with the Office of the Chief Inspector and Category Leads
- Provide leadership in the delivery of PGIs regulatory function under the Act, including responsibility for achieving outcomes from both reactive regulatory work and PGIs Compliance Assurance Program
- Undertake the functions of an 'inspector' appointed under the Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004 (and other Acts) as required.
- Participate in an on-call roster as an 'inspector' including being able to travel to remote locations as and if required
- A tertiary qualification (Bachelor's Degree or higher) in Investigations, compliance, legal or similar from a recognised tertiary institution
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience gained within an environment that includes compliance and enforcement functions

Key Accountabilities
- Provide assistance to Inspectors for prescribed incidents and identified non-compliances where outcomes may result in enforcement action and suspension or cancellation of an authority
- Use PGI safety intelligence to identify trends in incident learnings and compliance investigations to inform PGIs risk-based compliance assurance program
- Manage the Penalty Infringement Notice process, including the operating framework, quality assurance and relevant SPER referrals
- Carry out investigative functions and provide effective oversight of investigative standards, decision-making and record keeping to raise the overall standard and quality of investigative capabilities, including:

- Briefs of evidence for compliance investigations consistent with the requirements of the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor for matters that are referred for prosecution; and
- Providing support to Inspectors in the preparation and review of compliance directions, information notices and other statutory documents
- Lead and manage improvements of Petroleum and Gas Inspectorate investigation policy, practices and capabilities (including mentoring, coaching and training Inspectorate staff) to ensure the delivery of consistent best practice regulatory functions, including dangerous incident investigations, compliance investigations and use of powers.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other Queensland Government agencies where required for the purposes of Petroleum and Gas Inspectorate inspections, complaints or dangerous incident investigations
- Contribute to projects to support the achievement of RSHQ operational objectives
- Preparing regulatory review summary's for the Chief Inspector, where relevant, that identify emerging risks with PGIs regulatory practice or learnings from completed regulatory activities
- Assist category leads complete and publish safety alerts
- Represent the Inspectorate at stakeholder engagement meetings to discuss the regulatory compliance approach including sharing lessons identified from recent investigations

Essential/ Desirable Requirements
- Current Australian Driver's Licence (i.e.: open, manual, Four Wheel Drive).
- A tertiary qualification (Bachelor's Degree or higher) in Investigations, compliance, legal or similar from a recognised tertiary institution.
