FO-2 Forensic Officer, Ongoing Role available
The Audio-Visual Unit provides a range of forensic audio-visual services which include:
- Extraction and conversion of footage from CCTV devices.
- Extraction and conversion of audio and video recordings from a range of digital and analogue recording and storage devices.
- Analysis and authentication of video, images and audio
- Repair of physically damaged media (tapes, CDs DVDs)
- Recovery of deleted or corrupted audio-visual recordings.
- Audio, video and image enhancement.
- Attend crime scenes.
**About the role**:
The position provides casework assistance which includes administrative and technical support in the handling and examination of audio-visual evidence. The position will also be required to attend crime scenes to assist with the retrieval of evidence.

**As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include**:
- Exhibit handling, processing of case lodgements using local databases and PALM case management system.
- Attend to customer enquiries, book in casework and contact customers to arrange case collection.
- Perform work both individually and as a member of a team.
- Provide general administrative assistance including, ordering, maintaining computerised records, manual records, compiling statistic reports and conducting preliminary audits of casework records.
- Maintain equipment and instrumentation.
- Dub audio and video recordings and instruct clients on the use of dubbing equipment.
- Under direction and supervision assist with the examination of audio-visual casework using defined methods and procedures in line with agreed outputs.
- Attend and assist at crime scenes where appropriate.
- Assist in relevant research and development projects.
- Contribute to the laboratory quality assurance and accreditation program.
- Present factual evidence in Courts of Law, where required.
**Skills & experience**:
**As the successful applicant, you will ideally have**:
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- An interest in “technology” such as audio-visual production, photography, IT or coding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good general IT proficiency.
- Ability to adapt and work well under pressure in a changing environment
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
**Requirements and relevant information**:
- Position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- May be required to work outside normal hours and attend crime scenes
- Required to undergo National Security Vetting and achieve and maintain a security classification rated as Secret (Negative Vetting Level 1). To achieve this, you must be an Australian Citizen.
