**The company**
Successful and longstanding organisation involved in the import and wholesale and retail distribution of a 16,000 SKU product range, well-known in their niche market.

**The role**
Report to the CFO and manage a part-time Purchasing Officer. Your new role involves the management of the purchasing planning and execution function, in consultation with a range of stakeholders.

**The responsibilities**
This broad hands-on role involves:

- generating historical reports to develop a draft of the monthly stock order, uploading to an existing forecast template to generate the draft purchasing plan.
- working in consultation with the CEO and Product Managers to finalise the purchasing strategy and plan.
- generating orders with international suppliers in China, Europe and Asia.
- managing supplier queries, negotiating delivery times and coordinating payments with the finance team.
- negotiating freight charges and logistics arrangements with freight forwarding organisations.
- preparing landed cost reports and communicating with the warehousing function.
- creating new product data, SKU numbers and barcodes and resolving related issues.
- managing FSC compliance.
- experience in a similar role in an import and distribution business with a high volume of SKUs.
- experience in purchasing forecasting.
- an appreciation of the impact of currency fluctuations, supply chain delays and container volumes on predictable supply for a wholesale and retail business with promotional peaks and seasons.
- the ability to influence others and manage expectations.
