An exciting opportunity exists to join the Emergency Department at Shellharbour Hospital.

Shellharbour Hospital is a 197 bed, acute facility providing a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. The inpatient services include aged care, medical, surgical, mental health and acute medical assessment inpatient beds, plus a day surgery unit. The hospital also provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medical, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, as well as adolescent and adult mental health services.

Shellharbour is located on the picturesque South Coast of NSW, located over an hour’s drive south of Sydney, and has a rapidly growing population. - The Career Medical Officer (CMO) is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team. The CMO will provide supervision to junior doctors and high quality medical services to patients of ISLHD under the supervision of specialist staff. The CMO will participate in a rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends and will have the opportunity to work at various hospitals across ISLHD.

The applicant must be certified as compliant with Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases (nsw.gov.au) before employment can commence.

**Please note**: Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
- MBBS or equivalent, **currently registered** with the Medical Board of Australia
- Five Years postgraduate experience or greater (CMO Grade 2) or less than five years postgraduate experience (CMO Grade 1)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Participation in after-hours roster commitments and rotations to other emergency departments in the ISLHD
- Sufficient skills knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent Emergency CMO. Post graduate Qualifications in or relevant to Emergency Medicine or significant experience in Emergency medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and to coordinate services across multiple providers
- Good leadership and teamwork skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
