**Role**:

- Learning Specialists will be highly skilled classroom practitioners who continue to spend the majority of their time in the classroom delivering high-quality teaching and learning and have a range of responsibilities related to their expertise, including teaching demonstration lessons, observing and providing feedback to other teachers and facilitating school-based professional learning. Learning Specialists are expected to have deep knowledge and expertise in high quality teaching and learning in delivering improved achievement, engagement and wellbeing for students. The role of the Learning Specialist will be to model excellence in teaching and learning through demonstration lessons and, mentoring and coaching teachers in improving the skill, knowledge and effectiveness of the teaching workforce.
- The Learning Specialist role is aimed at building excellence in teaching and learning within the Teaching Service.

**Responsibilities**:

- The Student Agency Instruction Practice Leader will be a member of the School Improvement Team and an active and visible leader of the College. They will lead and manage the implementation of whole school improvement initiatives related to the School Strategic Plan and Annual Implementation Plan. They will drive improvement through educational leadership within the Framework for Improving Student Outcomes 2.0.
- Key aspects include:

- Promote a culture of Respect, Initiative and Learning.
- Guide and drive the College¿s implementation of targeted, research-based learning and wellbeing programs to promote inclusion and improved student outcomes.
- Lead and manage the School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB) and Respectful Relationships teams and work with them to further embed these programs across the college.
- Lead and manage the implementation of Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) professional learning, by reviewing and refining strategies and supporting staff in the delivery of these strategies.
- Lead and manage the college Homegroup program and the effective implementation of High Impact Wellbeing Strategies (HIWS) to positively impact student wellbeing. This includes:

- Liaising with Sub school Leaders to develop and align the Homegroup program across the college.
- The development of skills outlined in the HIWS and the Personal and Social Capability F-10 Curriculum such as emotional regulation, peer relationships, valuing diversity and respectful relationships, resolving conflicts and strategies for working independently and in group situations.
- Coordinating the provision of resources required for each session (photocopied materials, guest speakers, PowerPoint presentations, scheduling of appropriate venues etc).
- Liaise with the Student Leadership Coordinator to provide student leaders with the opportunity to influence the Homegroup program through student agency.
- Assist supervising teachers where necessary.
- Develop the program to align with key events taking place each term (e.g. camps, exams, course counselling, city experience and work experience, peer support, pathways events etc).
- Advocate for student agency to become embedded within the classroom. Collaborate with faculty leaders to help develop common strategies to assist teachers with this process. This will occur by:

- Promoting the professional learning of staff with an emphasis on improving and sharing instructional practice and the use of High Impact Teaching Strategies.
