**About National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS)**:
NPWS is one of the world’s oldest and most respected national parks agencies, comprising over 2,200 FTE. We manage more than 890 national parks and reserves, covering over 7.6 million hectares, or 9.5% of NSW’s landmass. Our work spans conservation, biodiversity protection, Aboriginal cultural heritage, tourism, fire management, and emergency response, with over 50 million visits annually.

**About the Role**:
Reporting to the Secretary, and part of the DCCEEW executive leadership team, we are seeking a strategic and results-driven Deputy Secretary to lead NPWS, including the management and growth of the NSW reserve system and the management of wildlife across the state. Providing advice to the Minister, this executive role is responsible for delivering a range of critical conservation, land management, and visitor experience functions, while ensuring compliance with relevant policies, practices, and statutory requirements. The Deputy Secretary also plays a key role in cross-agency and state-significant initiatives.

**About You**:
We are seeking a proven visionary senior executive to lead the NPWS organisation. You will be responsible for strategic leadership across conservation, visitor experience, asset management, cultural heritage, fire management, and aviation fleet operations. This role will oversee land and wildlife management, including Aboriginal joint management, pest control, and threatened species conservation, while ensuring best-practice asset management and infrastructure sustainability.

You will have driven innovation in customer service, delivered high-impact capital projects, and be responsible for leading NPWS’s fire management strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders. With a large, diverse workforce and high public expectations, the role demands strong leadership, cross government collaboration, financial and risk management expertise, and a respectful commitment to Aboriginal cultural heritage and community partnerships. **Essential Requirements**:
A degree qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience in senior executive leadership positions.
