In our community, we demonstrate that ageing is a time of possibility, not limitation. Self-discovery, achievement and connection continues throughout life, no matter the age. Inner West Neighbour Aid is a not for profit community organisation, established for over 30 years that provides social outings, workshops, exercise classes, intergenerational connections and centre based groups for seniors living in the inner west. We also support seniors who want to stay living in their homes safely and independently with garden and lawn maintenance and assistance with pets. Neighbour Aid also maintains the 5 Senses Garden in Rhodes Park, Concord West in partnership with the City of Canada Bay Council. The 5 Senses Garden is an inclusive green space that promotes involvement in nature, veggie pods, culture and play. The organisation is primarily funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Program and other grants.

This position calls for someone who is a natural organiser, people-person, and community builder — someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with others and believes in the power of social connection to change lives. The Social Support Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating our Social Support team, creating opportunities for older people to stay engaged, active and involved in their community. This role is hands-on, varied and deeply rewarding - from planning outings and programs, to mentoring staff and volunteers, to ensuring every client feels welcomed, supported and seen and also stepping in to drive and support staff when needed. It suits someone who loves what Inner West Neighbour Aid stands for and who finds joy in their work, because it “doesn’t feel like a job”.
