**The Role**
The Finance and Budget Division enables the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to deliver its business outcomes by providing high quality and timely corporate services, including strategic and operational financial services.

The Finance Branch ensures the department is compliant with and meets statutory financial management obligations. The branch consists of several teams undertaking functions including:

- Financial Reporting
- Financial Performance and Internal Budgets
- Finance Business Partners
- Procurement
- Financial Operations
- Governance

The Finance Offices in Finance Branch contribute to the branch’s objectives by undertaking month end accounting processes, preparing various financial statement notes, developing budgets/forecasts and working with stakeholders.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Financial Reporting Team or Finance Business Partners, the Finance officer responsibilities may include:
In Reporting team
- Undertake month end accounting processes;
- Monitoring the financial reporting inbox and responding to queries;
- Prepare various financial statement notes and supporting work papers for audit;
- Promote and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Interrogate the Financial Management Information System (i.e. SAP) to answer financial questions (on request) from internal stakeholders;
- Support senior members of the Financial Reporting team

In FBPs
- Undertake end or month process including journals and invoices;
- Provide support and assistance with development of budgets;
- Provide support and assistance with cost recovery;
- Review forecasts on a monthly basis to inform management of funding issues by highlighting pressures or savings;
- Provide analysis and advice on the current and planned financial performance; and
- Work with internal stakeholders to assist in end of month management reporting

**Qualifications and Education**
Relevant accounting/Finance qualifications or experience
