Bakery Production Assistant

We're a wholesale plant based dessert business based in West End (just 10 minutes from the CBD). We produce a range of vegan slices and cakes for hospitality venues around Australia in large quantities.

We're looking for production assistants to support our pastry team. You would be responsible for bulk production, using equipment and machines, the heavy lifting (15kg) and general cleaning.

**Hours: 7am to 3:30pm ish Monday to Friday, NO weekend work | Location: West End | Must be available a minimum of 3 days.**

**Your main responsibilities will include**:

- Performing the heavy lifting to support the pastry team i.e. transferring baked trays into the trolleys/freezer (10kg to 12kg each), refilling ingredients (15kg boxes).
- Using large robot coupe mixers
- Operating other machinery to produce bulk production of brownies, slices, cakes etc.
- Preparing ingredients, measuring etc
- Pouring and levelling layers of dessert slices
- Dishes and cleaning
- Beginning of day set up and end of day pack down
- Adhering to HACCP protocols

**What's really important to us**:

- Fit and strong, able to comfortably lift 10kg to 15kg repetitively throughout the day (our baking trays weigh 15kg when filled with product and you will regularly be lifting and moving them). **Part of your main role is to perform the heavier tasks for our pastry team, please keep this in mind if applying. This role is suited to strong individuals.**:

- A minimum of two years working within a food production environment, this could be a bakery, hotel, restaurant, wholesale food production etc. It's important to us that you have a sound knowledge of food hygiene practices.
- An enthusiastic, upbeat and hard working attitude (we take this REALLY seriously, our team are positive and friendly, anyone who's a glass half empty kind of person, grunts as their form of communication or doesn't like taking direction - please don't apply).
- Ability to multi-task and show initiative, and most importantly capable to work unsupervised.
- Excellent and clear communication
- Reliable with a willingness to learn

COVID-19 considerations:
As a wholesaler this is not a customer facing role, you'll be working within a small production team.
