**About the facility***

Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.

The Central Sterilising Unit (CSU) and Satellite Reprocessing Unit (SRU) are well-equipped, spacious and modern facilities which provide reprocessing services to all Barwon Health internal and external sites and departments, the largest of these being our busy Operating Services

**About the role**

As an Instrument Technician you will be a valued member of the reprocessing team. Your role will be to adapt with the challenges of the unit as dictated by the needs of the organisation in conjunction with the supervisor and manager while maintaining a high standard to practice in accordance with Barwon Health policies and procedures as well as AS/NZS 4187:2014. You will be responsible for ensuring that contaminated and sterile items are collected, stored and distributed in a manner specified by the relevant policies, procedures and standards pertaining to Infection Prevention and the CSU/SRU.

Desirable: Certificate III in Sterilisation Services
Desirable: Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services
Desirable: Experience with electronic tracking systems
Desirable: Understanding and experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Desirable: Experience in and understanding of the function and role of a sterilisation unit
Desirable: Experience with loan kits
Desirable: Understanding of digital tracking of RMDs and use of T-Doc
