**Where you'll be working**
Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Cumberland and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. **What you'll be doing**
The Youth Health Counsellor works within a multidisciplinary team and provides services for young people aged 12- 24 years and their significant others. WSLHD Youth Health services prioritise marginalised, homeless and at risk young people aged 12- 24 years. This position will facilitate engagement by providing services that are relevant and responsive to the health needs of the target group. The Youth health counsellor provides a range of psycho-social interventions including evidence based therapeutic interventions, supportive counselling, assertive case management and support, group work, brief intervention and referral to appropriate services both internal and external to WSLHD Youth Health.

The youth health counsellor provides client centred care utilising a trauma informed practice within a primary health care (PHC) framework to work alongside young people, their significant others and other service provided.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Qualification: Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline
- Registration: Registration with AHPRA as per requirements

**Selection Criteria**:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field with registration through AHPRA or respective professional body.
- Experience working with and understanding of the issues affecting marginalised young people’s access to health services.
- 3Demonstrated experience in the delivery of therapeutic interventions to marginalised young people, with a focus on trauma informed practice.
- Demonstrated experience in provision of brief intervention and crisis counselling with at risk young people.
- Excellent communication and networking skills, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to engage with marginalised and at risk young people both individually and in a group setting.
- Current NSW drivers licence and willingness to use for work purpose.
