Under the supervision of A/Prof Bardy, the Research Assistant Bioinformatician is responsible for assisting with computational analysis and software development for various projects in the Laboratory for Human Neurophysiology and Genetics.

Reporting to A/Prof Bardy, the position will also work closely with other members of the Laboratory for Human Neurophysiology and Genetics to ensure all research activities and outputs can be effectively implemented to a high standard. The role will also interact with a range of external stakeholders including our SAHMRI partners, external collaborators and any relevant regulatory authorities.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

Key responsibilities include:

- Developing and implementing algorithms (Python, R) to streamline the analysis of electrophysiological and transcriptomics data from human brain tissue.
- Implementing AI and machine learning tools to predict disease states from biological samples.
- Overseeing general lab management activities related to computer equipment and data storage.
- Organise and save data analysis and computer programming codes responsibly.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Bachelor of Science - Honours degree in cellular and/or molecular biology or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
- Practical experience bioinformatics, programming, software development and artificial intelligence methods
- Attention to detail; methodical with excellent record keeping skills
- Experience in biology
- Be highly motivated and can prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, seeking support when necessary to complete the task
- Ability to work in a team, intelligently manage relationships and establish rapport effectively
