Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy rural hospital which employs over 1,000 staff and is the main acute care hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. Shoalhaven Hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre and sub-acute Mental Health Unit. **What you'll be doing**

The aim of the Unaccredited Trainee position in Rehabilitation Medicine is to gain learning and experience in general and specialised terms, utilising evidenced based rehabilitation medicine principles.

The Unaccredited Trainee is to perform comprehensive rehabilitation assessments, make treatment decisions, perform procedures, maintain adequate medical records, and develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. The Unaccredited Trainee will supervise general medical management of patients admitted/referred to the Department of Rehabilitation and build an integrated care plan with interdisciplinary teams and the department to achieve best patient outcome.

Unaccredited Trainees are expected to participate in consultative and outpatient services in a variety of ambulatory care settings which may include hospital facilities and private consulting rooms.

Close supervision and liaison with consultants will allow the Unaccredited Trainee to demonstrate their level of ability and understanding of patient care and enable individual expansion of clinical responsibility. All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
