**INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC TUTORS - FLUTE & OBOE**
**COMMENCING TERM 1, 2025
Cranbrook School is seeking a passionate, highly skilled and suitably experienced
instrumental music tutor of Flute and a music tutor of Oboe for individual student
instruction.
**ABOUT THE POSITION**
Instrumental music tutors are highly capable musicians who play an important role in
teaching music and developing the music program across the School. Responsible for
undertaking high standard essential tutoring functions to prepare students for success for
music examinations and performance, the role includes, but is not limited to planning,
programming, tuition delivery, assessment and reporting.
Instrumental music tutors also contribute to the School music program by assisting with
performances and events, and if required, direct or support instrumental and choral co
- curricular ensembles.
The position works across both the Junior School and Senior School campuses.
This is a casual position, to commence February 2025.
**ABOUT YOU**
Possessing formal music qualifications, you have a track record of developing high
performing young musicians, the skills and confidence to manage student behaviour and a
demonstrated ability to both inspire young people to find their passion in music and
motivate students at differing levels of ability.
You have a willingness to work outside of regular school hours for performances and
events, when required.
You are enthusiastic, passionate and prepared to contribute to all aspects of School life,
including supporting the Vision and goals of the School.
You are an excellent communicator, creative, and able to work well with students, parents
and other teachers. You are committed to continual professional development and
reflection, and have a genuine interest in the growth of young people.
**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Formal music qualifications
- Highly developed instrumental skills
- Experience in teaching a wide range of students (from beginner to HSC)
- Ability to use a range of different pedagogical approaches with students
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work in both a self-directed manner and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to act with, and foster collaboration and effective teamwork
- A level of mobility that supports the ability to respond to a first aid / behavioural
incident
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when
engaging with children.
Experience in conducting, directing and assisting with ensembles would be highly regarded.
