**The Role**
Are you looking to take your career to the next level? Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) is looking for a motivated and professional individual to fill the role of Area Manager in our South Australia Office.Area Managers lead multidisciplinary teams, which comprise of social workers and education specialists (to support the children of military families), administration staff and military officers, which deliver individual and program-related support to Defence families.

Area Managers work with stakeholders to facilitate a range of critical assessments to assist Commanders in making decisions that affect Defence families and to enhance the families’ self-reliance. The Area Manager is based at Keswick Barracks, South Australia but will be required to travel to RAAF Base Edinburgh on a regular basis. The role is accountable for the delivery of the DMFS suite of national programs, including management of social work services, critical incident management, and community engagement.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to think strategically and to make evidence-based decisions under pressure. You will be accountable for providing strong leadership and direction, planning the activities and managing the resources of the team, providing professional supervision to the Social Workers, and managing the workflow and work quality according to Commonwealth and Defence policy.
