Basketball Court Controller

Position Title: Court Controller

Reports to: Basketball Operations Coordinator

Location: Rockingham Basketball and Recreation Association ( Rockingham / Baldivis)

**Position Overview**

The Game Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of RBRA's domestic competitions. This includes managing courtside activities, assisting referees, liaising with coaches and officials, and ensuring a safe and fair environment for all participants. The role requires availability after school hours, evenings, and weekends.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Monitor court activities to ensure games run smoothly and safely.
- Address in-game issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Liaise with referees, coaches, players, and officials throughout game day.

Liaise with BOC regarding any updated for competition night

Provide First Aid if required

Work in Conjunction with City of Rockingham Staff

Ensure games commence on time
- Ensure iPads and Play HQ systems are operating effectively.
- Set-up and pack-down of courts for domestic games.
- Comprehend and ensure compliance with competition rules, regulations, and association policies.
- Promote and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive environment.

**Essential Requirements**
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think quickly and make decisions under pressure.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Availability after school, evenings, and some weekends.

**Desirable Skills & Experience**
- Understanding of basketball rules.
- Previous experience in a sports or recreation environment.
- Experience in conflict resolution and dealing with stakeholders.

**Remuneration**

This role is classified as Hobby Employment. It is not a traditional employment arrangement, and as such, wages are not paid. Instead, Court Controllers receive an honorarium or reimbursement to acknowledge their time and contribution. This arrangement is designed for individuals seeking involvement in basketball and community sport rather than paid employment.
