**The opportunity**
This is a critical role in ensuring the Platforms business delivers on its growth aspirations. It will be responsible for developing the Platform's business strategy with the Director of Strategy and Transformation and the broader Platforms Leadership team. In addition, this role will be expected to identify strategic opportunities and risks via market and internal analysis. This role will also be key in monitoring business performance in line with strategic objectives and key results. **This is contingent contract role at AMP.**
**Description of division and business unit**
Platforms is one of two growth businesses for AMP, and as such, is supported by a substantial investment in projects. It exists in a very competitive market, and a robust regulatory environment, which requires regular reviews of strategic direction and operational emphasis. The target segment for Platforms is mass affluent through the advised channel, with some service provided directly to clients that become unadvised.
**About the role**:
- Develop and implement the Platforms business strategy, including via fostering innovation and M&A
- Support the translation of the strategy into an actionable plan of initiatives to achieve strategic goals
- Coordinate and manage the prioritisation of Platforms strategic initiatives as well as the realisation of established goals/objectives.
- Establish and sponsor strategic projects, champion project management disciplines and embed the processes, structures, and tools for execution of strategy.
- Oversee, monitor and report on the achievement of strategic objectives using standardised templates and communication to key stakeholder groups, helping to track cost / benefits, identify risks and resolve issues as they arise.
- Prepare papers on Platforms strategy for the Executive Committee and Boards.
- Co-ordinate the Platforms LT and broader team around the business strategy including operational rhythm (ie LT strategy/ management days, team meetings, Senior Leader Forums etc)
- Surface capacity and resourcing issues and any other roadblocks requiring executive decisions.
- Provide support with the development of business cases.
- Support business planning.
**Job Specific Capabilities required**:
- Strong understanding of platforms business and market
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to make the complex simple.
- Must be confident to work with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to provide recommendations and influence others
- Ability to balance day-to-day pressures with the achievement of long-term strategic outcomes
- Strong results focus with a continuous improvement skill set
- Self-motivated and resilient
- Financial acumen, including understanding of the P&L of a platforms business.
**About you**:
- Demonstrated experience (8+ years) in design and implementation of business strategies
- Demonstrated experience in Financial Services industry, ideally in Platforms
- Track record in building and developing a high performing team of Managers
- Proven experience of presenting and communicating with impact to a variety of audiences
- Experience in buy
- and sell-side M&A
- Business degree or equivalent experience.
