**Role**:
The **First Aid Attendant** will work as part of the school¿s Student Welfare Team under the supervision of the Student Welfare Coordinator. The focus of this position is on provision of a first aid service to all students and staff.
First Aid Attendants require the capacity to be flexible, adaptable and willing to learn in a work environment where the day¿to¿day priorities and tasks may vary considerably. A school environment necessitates communication with students, teachers and parents about incidents requiring first aid treatment/attention, routine policy and procedural matters. The First Aid Attendant may also be assigned responsibilities that require them to have specialist skills or expertise e.g. First aid training, database management (CASES21 & COMPASS), data analysis, research, or specific software tools. In addition to any skills derived from professional learning, First Aid Attendants should bring to their role:
- basic numeracy and literacy skills
- sound written and verbal communication skills
- basic information technology skills
- team based skills.
**Responsibilities**:
1. Provide a first aid service to students and staff.
2. Communicate student first aid, injury and wellbeing information with staff and parents as appropriate.
3. Present twice a year to staff DET mandated Anaphylaxis & Diabetes briefing
4. Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective administration procedures.
5. Maintain sick bay (including ordering, storing & cleaning of supplies & equipment).
6. Maintain records of injuries and first aid and enter data on computerised recording systems (CASES21, COMPASS, eduSafe Plus). If required raining will be provided to successful applicant
7. Maintain first aid kits around the school and for excursions and camps.
8. Provide teaching staff with relevant first aid equipment and medical record information for camps and excursions.
9. Assist with provision of programs to support the wellbeing of students with chronic conditions such as asthma and anaphylaxis or other ongoing medical conditions and provide training for staff on management of these.
10. Organise staff immunisation program and assist with student vaccination days.
11. Maintain a register of first aid trained staff. Arrange annual first aid training and renewal of staff.
12. Be aware of and keep up to date with DE policies, procedures and training modules
13. Assist in general office as necessary with routine clerical or other administrative support responsibilities
14. Work as an active member of the college OH&S team.
15. Other duties as required by the principal.
