Mount Waverley Secondary College, established in 1964, provides a co-educational setting with a unique Junior Campus for Years 7 and 8 and a Senior Campus for Years 9 to12. **Selection Criteria**:
SC1 Demonstrated exemplary knowledge and teaching practices in the Instrumental Music
- Double Reed learning area and an understanding of the required Assessment and Reporting process.
SC2 Demonstrated high level ability to progress students' technical and artistic proficiency with their chosen instrument through single or group based lessons from beginning to advanced levels.
SC3 Demonstrated high level ability to engage students through a thoughtful pedagogy that is supported by a high knowledge of the instrumental music curriculum, student learning processes and resources.
SC4 Demonstrated commitment to actively support a college wide program such as the Instrumental Music Program and contribute to its further development.
SC5 Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop and sustain constructive relationships with students, parents and other staff.
**Role**:
**Mount Waverley Secondary College is seeking the services of a double reed teacher for 2025. The position is part time and involves one day (0.2) of teaching. The teaching day is flexible. Ensemble leadership or assistance may be negotiated depending on experience and availability. The position is salaried and will be employed as a teacher range or ES dependent upon qualifications.**
**As most teaching is at a junior level, teachers with strong skills in only one of the instruments (oboe/bassoon) are still encouraged to apply. The ability to teach other woodwind instruments will be highly regarded.**
**Mount Waverley Secondary College has a vibrant instrumental music program with over 500 students involved in some of the 5 strings orchestras, 5 concert bands, 2 stage bands and various other ensembles.**
Range 3 is distinguished by the introduction of management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services. The role will usually impact beyond the work area or professional field. It seeks to gain cooperation of other staff members or members of the school community to achieve specific objectives, such as in school administration, operations or educational programs.
Direction on targets and goals is provided but the position will have some degree of latitude in determining how they are achieved. This latitude will generally be limited by standard procedures and school policy. Deviation from standard procedures and school policy will require guidance and direction from senior management.
The provision of business management responsibilities becomes a feature at range 3. Management of staff to achieve the expected outcomes is a key responsibility.
