An exciting opportunity exists for a Laboratory Assistant to assist the technical suites within the Sunshine Coast University Hospital's (SCUH) Sunshine Coast Health Institute (SCHI). The Laboratory Assistant will assist the Laboratory Manager to coordinate and maintain effective and efficient operating procedures for the facility, including workplace health and safety and risk management within the SCHI technical education and research environment.
Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (SCHHS) is in southeast Queensland and extends through the coastal and hinterland areas from Caloundra in the south to Gympie in the north.

**Key Responsibilities include**:  
- Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and
- Support the Laboratory Manager in performing laboratory and equipment inductions and ensure ongoing user competency.
- Liaise with equipment suppliers and researchers to ensure the safe usage of precision research and laboratory equipment and organise any necessary maintenance in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager.
- Assist in developing and maintaining safe storage systems and usage of chemicals, hazardous materials and consumables.
