Key Responisibilities Include
- To perform general laboratory duties, including the receipt of specimens and registration of requests into the laboratory information system (basic keyboard/data entry skills).
- To perform specific laboratory duties in the Central Specimen Reception and other departments of the laboratory as required, including the processing of specimens relative to the department.
- Adherence to Pathology Queensland patient identification, labelling, collecting and processing policies at all times.
- Maintenance of the laboratory environment including cleaning and restocking of consumables.
- Ability to prioritise tasks in order to meet service delivery deadlines.
- Ability to respond to enquiries and instruction by clients by demonstrating effective communication skills.
- Actively seek the advice or approval of supervisory staff in relation to changes in work practices.

Key competencies
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of request forms, data entry and of the correct procedures for specimen processing.
- High level interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and work productively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work conscientiously and accurately with mínimal supervision after careful instruction.
- Demonstrated experience of the correct procedures for the performance of laboratory tests including processing and setting up techniques within the department.
- Ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements
- While not mandatory, any experience in blood collection would be beneficial with possibility of participating in emergent cover arrangements for the phlebotomy department.
- The position advertised is for Shift conditions and may be required to work a rotating roster of days, evenings or night shifts over a 7 day periodThis work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia License.
