**Position Manager Planning**

**Salary $101,653 - $107,620 per annum + up to 13% super**

The Town of Claremont is a progressive local government that was established in 1898 for the picturesque riverside suburbs of Claremont and Swanbourne. It is a busy and forward focused local government with dedicated staff who are committed to making a difference at a local level.

The Town is looking for an** **experienced and qualified Planning Manager to work with the Director to oversee the management of the Town’s planning business unit. This position has 5 direct reports (Senior Planners (x2), Heritage Officers, Planning Officer and Planning Administration Officer). Key responsibilities of the position include:

- Prepare reports to Council and assist direct reports with preparing reports to Council.
- Provide accurate and professional planning related advice.
- Review and preparation of strategic plans, local planning policies and frameworks and local laws.
- Structure Plan and Local Planning Scheme Review.
- Undertake Scheme, Policy and Guidelines formulation and review.
- Liaise with Building Services to ensure that all Building Applications comply with Planning requirements.
- Manage and report on planning and heritage related compliance requirements.
- Develop, maintain, update and implement procedures and associated manuals in line with best practice.
- Demonstrated technical skills combined with the ability to effectively supervise, motivate and develop staff capabilities.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work with competing deadlines to ensure compliance with legislative timeframes.
- A clear communicator who can provide advice in a practical and concise manner.
- Employ the mind set of continuous improvement and support team members to review and analyse processes to identify process improvements.
