**The Opportunity**

The role of **Design Manager Train Control Systems (TCS) **is responsible for the management of project design in liaison with our talented Project Engineers and Project Managers. This is a career
- opportunity for an experienced Design Manager in the Train Control space to lead, manage and foster a culture of **delivery** and** innovation** across the design team.

**Key responsibilities include**
- Responsible for the design and selection of equipment, Bill of Material (BOM) to suit the contract requirements
- Review and agree design timeframes with the Project Manager
- Lead design reviews and technical meetings with clients
- Provide technical advice to the functional Departmental Managers
- Produce engineering documentation as required by the project or engineering streams
- Accountable for design actions in accordance with the project Design Advice Notes
- Prepare correspondence as required by project.
- Maintain up to date work experience records and statement of competency records
- Listen to colleagues’ improvement ideas and have informed opinions about their merit.
- Ensure that all necessary steps are taken to meet the Company’s Environmental licence conditions and to minimise Environmental risks.
- Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements, undertake any adhoc projects, initiatives, tasks as directed by the Engineering Manager.

**Requirements to be successful**
- Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in the railway mainly in the signalling or TCS design area with some on site work involved in testing and commissioning.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline and able to obtain Acceptance by Engineers Australia or equivalent
- Significant experience in design delivery on projects
- Experience in people management and coordinating a team of Engineers to deliver both minor and major TCS design projects
