Residential Manager

**About the Role**
Reporting to the General Manager, the Residential Manager will lead and manage the operations of the Residential team to deliver effective management of every detainee in conditions of respect and decency having safety and security as critical focus and remaining in compliance with statutory and contract requirements. This diverse role is directly responsible for the management and supervision of the Residential and Welfare and Engagement operational groups of the Facility and direct liaison with both the customer and service providers.
Supporting the General manager and working closely with the Senior Management Team, you will be responsible for driving operational improvement, workforce development while influencing positive engagement and excellent operational outcomes. With a significant focus on People Management, you are responsible for ensuring a stable workforce with high motivation and work ethic.
A key focus will be to ensure the management of Detainee’s is conducted fairly and providing encouragement and engagement techniques to increase participation in purposeful activities that will assist in their positive engagement in the centre’s regimes.
This is a fulltime role based at the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation
**About You**
You are an inspirational leader who is passionate about ensuring the best in industry standards in detention environments are delivered. You possess sound knowledge of detention standard operating practices, or those of an associated industry, and can analyse issues and complex problems providing commercial and operational solutions. Your strategic approach guarantees you both participate and develop business plans and project deliverables to improve engagement and ensure statutory and contractual requirements. As a person of integrity, you will drive positive engagement of both the workforce and Detainees and have a strong collaboration with mental health services. You’re a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do who develops meaningful professional relationships within complex environments with competing priorities.
- To be successful in this role, you will have:_
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
- Certificate IV in Risk Management and / or Frontline Management, or equivalent
- Hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid (with at least 6mths currency remaining)
- Maintain mandatory clearances - Australian Federal Police Clearance and Working With Children (if site requirement)
- Advanced verbal and written communication with an ability to interact at all levels
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships with all stakeholders, particularly with diverse teams in challenging environments
- High level of resilience and the ability to remain balanced and objective in high stress situations
- Proven capability to effectively manage conflict and incidents within a command-and-control management practice collaborating with emergency services as appropriate developing, recommending and implementing safe resolutions
- Possess strong and robust mediation and de-escalation skills
- This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a national police check as an essential selection component for this role._
