**About the Role**:
BHP’s Performance and Improvement group was established to identify, maximise and implement value-adding and performance improvement opportunities across the value chain of BHP’s assets.

This is a Brisbane based role offering a fixed term opportunity working Monday to Friday. Some travel may be required. Flexible working options are available.

In this role, you will:

- Uncover areas of value-adding business and performance improvement opportunities across the BHP value chain, and identify and solve the most complex problems in the business;
- Work closely with operations and stakeholders to ensure that the relevant business problems are defined, including setting the problem context, understanding the business requirements and success measures, and managing potential challenges;
- Develop dynamic discrete-event models to simulate the asset supply chain including mine operations, trucking and rail networks, processing plants and product loading and dispatch using AnyLogic simulation software;
- Design dynamic model functionality at a suitable level of detail, ensuring the models are fit for purpose, able to generate and deliver meaningful results and provide actionable insights to the business;
- Work collaboratively with site SMEs and the data analysts and data scientists in the Value Analytics team - interrogating and analysing data from large data source records in order to gain insights, understand operational and performance issues and produce input data for the dynamic models;
- Define simulation cases, process model results and produce visualisations to support findings and solutions;
- Confidently present ideas, results and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders;
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across BHP.

**About You**:
Critical requirements: Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or analytics-related tertiary qualifications, together with a passion for problem solving and using data and simulation to identify, evaluate and support performance improvement initiatives.

Other attributes you may have would include some or all of the following:

- Practical experience in mining, minerals processing and resource industries, or equivalent heavy industries, which may include experience in operations or consulting in these areas;
- Experience in performance improvement ideation and hypothesis development, including exploring and proposing new ideas that may have benefits for the operation and business;
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and creative problem solving skills to generate value through simulation, while maintaining a practical and strategic focus;
- Capability in project scoping, project planning and executing work using a disciplined approach to attain project goals;
- Strong presentation and communication skills, and ability to influence stakeholders within different areas of expertise.
