About the role
The Advanced Indigenous Health Worker functions within the Indigenous Sexual Health Unit and is hosted at by the West Moreton Public Health Unit.
A primary responsibility is the delivery of clinical & educational services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This includes effective liaison and communication with correctional facilities, youth detention centres, relevant health providers and welfare support services in order to ensure that service delivery for communicable diseases and immunisation is appropriate to needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in West Moreton.
About you
- Proven clinical knowledge, expertise and skills in Sexual Health & Blood Borne Virus service provision and care interventions working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. The ability to provide relevant clinical service advice to health care professionals and operational supervisors regarding service delivery outcomes and improvement opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (including patients, carers and communities) within a health-related context and having a clear understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, protocols and health related procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbally), including preparing complex reports. The proven ability to respond directly to concerns of patients, carers and family members in an appropriate manner.
- Demonstrated proficiency in information systems and use of this information for improving Indigenous Health outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
- Vaccinated against COVID-19 as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO.12/21and the Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
