**Position Information**:
NSW School of Languages is a languages-only distance education high school teaching 12 languages to 2600 students. There are over 100 language teachers working at the school. The Deputy Principal will work alongside the Principal and other executive to progress the strategic directions as set out in our Strategic Improvement Plan. They support the leadership, management and improvement of the school, within statewide guidelines and government policies

The school is located at 35 West St, Petersham.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated highly visible leadership skills with proven capacity to lead and monitor the school’s strategic directions and support a diverse teaching staff;
2. Evidence of highly developed organisational skills to ensure the successful prioritisation and management of the day to day administration of the school;
3. Deep understanding of the needs of language students and demonstrated capacity to lead and develop teacher capacity to work with language students in distance education setting.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
