**About the role**:
We have an exciting opportunity for an **Inspecting Arborist** to join our Arboriculture Services team within Infrastructure Operations.
As our new Inspecting Arborist, you will make a difference daily by carrying out professional tree inspections across the municipality, with a focus on ensuring compliance with electrical line clearance regulations, assessing tree asset data, and identifying potential hazards to public safety and infrastructure.
You will report directly to the **Project Officer Arboriculture Services** and work collaboratively with colleagues across Parks and Open Space, contractors, utility providers and the wider Knox community. Key responsibilities will include undertaking systematic tree inspections, maintaining accurate data in Council’s asset management systems, auditing contractor works, and providing recommendations to guide pruning, removal and maintenance programs.
This is a **12 month** **temporary** **full-time role based at the Knox Operations Centre.**
We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring the operational needs of the role are met.
This is a **Band 5 classified role** in accordance with the Knox City Council Enterprise Agreement. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $93,517.96 depending on experience (pro-rata for part time), plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
**What you will bring to this role**:
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Certificate/Diploma (or higher) in Arboriculture combined with relevant tree management experience (mandatory)
- In-depth understanding of electrical line clearance regulations and practices
- Sound tree identification knowledge and hazard assessment skills
- Ability to analyse and assess risks caused by trees and program works in line with Council policy
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and deliver within required timeframes
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and liaise with contractors, stakeholders and the community
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- A commitment to customer service and Council’s values of care, fairness, accountability and professionalism
