The Data and Digital branch support the National Archives in meeting its vision and reaching its strategic goals through services, technology, infrastructure, software, security and governance of its information assets to secure and protect against cyber security threats. It is also responsible for assisting Australian Government agencies to fulfil the National Archives’ data and information management requirements.
**About the Role**
The Network Operations section is responsible for maintaining and managing the enterprise network of National Archives, pro-actively managing and responding to cyber incidents, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, remediation, and operational activities, while providing a secure and robust network to National Archives. The section also works on uplifting and engaging modern network infrastructure and technologies in National Archives.
**Renumeration**
Salary Range: $119,189 - $128,279
Applicants deemed suitable with exceptional skills, experience or expertise may be eligible for an Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA) in accordance with the IFA provisions of the National Archives of Australia (National Archives) Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027. This may include additional remuneration and/or the variation of other conditions

**Position Duties**
The position of Assistant Director network operation is a hands-on technical role and under broad direction the main duties of the role may include
- Maintain and manage enterprise network infrastructure including LAN, MAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Wireless network
- Manage Datacentre routing and switching
- Research, review, and evaluate projects to provide a robust, reliable, fit for purpose and well-maintained network in accordance with the National Archives priorities and the government's Information Security framework.
- Lead and manage a small technical team to build capability in a team environment through coaching other, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.
- Attain and maintain an extensive understanding of the role and responsibilities of network operation management across current and emerging technology trends.
- Ensure that all Service requests Tasks, Incidents, and changes are managed in a timely manner using the service management tool
- Collaborating with IT Security to enhance Cyber Security in National Archives of Australia
- Perform proactive scans of the network for indicators of suspicious or malicious activity
**Eligibility**
To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a NV1 clearance level with an ability to obtain NV2 or PV if required.
**Qualifications/Experience**
Qualifications or experience in one or more of the following areas is a mandatory requirement
- Datacentre Routing and Switching
- Experience managing enterprise LAN and WAN
- Experience or Knowledge of Zero Trust network
- Experience or Knowledge of Cloud networking and security
- Experience or Knowledge of Network Monitoring and packet capturing tools
- Enterprise Firewalls and proxies
- Network Access Controls software like Cisco ISE or Aruba ClearPass
- Vulnerability Management
- DNS, DHCP Active Directory Sites and Services
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards like Essential Eight, ISM and NIST
- Industry Certification like CCNA, CCNP, NSE or others
